Your size guide for your ATLAS safety shoes
There are plenty of reasons to buy new safety shoes or work shoes. Whether it’s a new job, changing requirements or simply the desire for something new. Now all that’s left is to choose the right size – no problem. But be careful! The sizes of everyday shoes cannot simply be applied to safety shoes. In the leisure footwear sector, ergonomic fits and wide-fit options are rarely available. As a result, a full 80 per cent of young people starting their careers choose the wrong size when buying their first safety shoes. So, should you buy safety shoes one size larger? Not necessarily!
Choosing the right size is crucial for comfort and safety in the workplace. Safety footwear or work shoes that do not fit properly can cause pressure points, blisters or even long-term foot problems. Furthermore, poorly fitting shoes can compromise their protective effect, increase the risk of injury from twisting an ankle or tripping, and, in the long term, lead to misalignments and poor posture.
How to find the right size for your Atlas shoes
There are two ways to find the right size for your new ATLAS safety shoes.
1. Simple, manual measurement
To measure your foot size and width simply and manually, place your foot on a white A4 sheet of paper. Then trace the outline of your feet. This is easiest if you have someone else to help you. Next, measure your foot using a ruler or tape measure. Finally, find your ATLAS shoe size in the table below.
2. ATLAS SCAN YOUR FEET APP – Faster, smarter, simpler
Alternatively, you can find your perfect shoe size even more easily and accurately using our ATLAS SCAN YOUR FEET APP – directly and conveniently from your smartphone. The app offers you: interactive foot measurement, pixel-perfect accuracy and detailed product descriptions.
Take a white A4 sheet of paper and, for the measurement, it is best to wear dark-coloured tights, e.g. in black, blue, green or red.
Sit comfortably with your back straight and make sure your knees are at a 90-degree angle.
Now place your feet approximately 2–3 cm to the right and left of the white A4 sheet.
Make sure your heels are flush with the bottom edge of the blade.
Next, open the ATLAS SCAN YOUR FEET app and make sure you can see your feet and the white sheet clearly.
Press the shutter button in the app and let the app measure your feet.
Which shoe width is right for me?
The best way to determine the ideal width for your Atlas safety shoes is using the Mondopoint method. This internationally recognised measurement method takes into account not only the length but also the width of the foot to ensure the best possible fit. To determine the correct width, the circumference of the foot is measured at the widest point of the ball of the foot. Based on these measurements, the appropriate shoe width can then be determined using the Mondopoint system. All ATLAS safety shoes with standard width 10 are manufactured with a wide, foot-friendly fit. In addition, our customised multi-width system is available to you. Width 12 is suitable for wider feet. Our special widths 13 and 14 offer space and comfort for very wide and extra-wide feet.

What is the Mondopoint method?
Mondopoint is a metric measurement system used to determine the exact size of shoes. Unlike conventional shoe size systems (e.g. EU, UK or US), Mondopoint specifies the foot length in millimetres (mm) and the foot width or ball circumference. This allows for a more precise fit, particularly for work and safety footwear, where an optimal fit is essential. Further information can be found in our size guide.
